Complaint to Moby Line management / directorate.
On June 26, 2019, we (2 persons, 1 camper) have booked and used the Mobi Line ferry from Olbia to Genoa. The port of Olbia we reached at 19:15 (scheduled departure at 21:30). The loading car park was empty except for a few cars, which were, however, continuously engaged. We were then placed in a waiting line where another camper was waiting for loading. Then our ticket was checked and we got the appropriate glue. We were looking forward to the shower in our inside cabin and to the dinner in the operated restaurant. All this more than 2 hours before departure. The individually arriving cars were further loaded immediately. Sometimes there was no car left for minutes, so it was not busy.
In our waiting line we heard about the on-board speaker, that the restaurant had opened from then on. But for us it was said, continue to wait and wait. When asked when we can go on, the present Moby Line staff just shrugged. Behind us was another camper. A family with a small child and a baby who suffered and cried in the hot evening sun.
From 20 clock almost no cars came, but we were left to wait and wait. After nearly 2 hours we were finally allowed at 21:00 on the ferry, which incidentally was half empty. After moving into the inner cabin, the electricity immediately fell out. Finally showered fresh we wanted to reserve a table in the served restaurant and take an aperitif on deck in advance. That was at 21:45.
After being left waiting for 2 hours in the parking lot, we were now told that the restaurant closes in 15 minutes, so at 22:00 and we should therefore eat immediately. We did that. Unfortunately, we were soon the last guests, because all the others were already finished. The atmosphere was accordingly uncomfortable. Since the staff wanted to close the bill was handed over to us without a request, so to speak an invitation to leave. As has been the case since the arrival in the parking lot, we were once more fooled.
Pay more with the motorhome, booked an inside cabin, eaten in the restaurant for well over 100 EUR. These are well paying customers who should wish Moby Line. Why Moby Line treats such customers so customer-unfriendly on a semi-empty ferry is difficult to understand. It is hard to imagine that there are any charging reasons for the long wait, because on the total weight of the ferry 5 campers are no challenge.
Unfortunately, I can not recommend the booking of this shipping company.
